Week of May 18-22:
We will be doing some grammar and writing. I will be handing out the next novel, Hoot, on Tuesday between 9 and 11 am at Sacred Heart. We will finish our school year reading the novel. I will see you LIVE on Monday, then I'll see you in person on Tuesday when you pick up the book, then maybe I'll see you later in the week;)
Week of May 11-15:
I am sorry I missed week of May 4-8-the days run together in quarantine! This week we will continue working on your combined science/ILA reearch project due no later that May 15 (May 12, if possible). In addition, we will continue working through our VOYAGES book. I am hoping to plan a pick-up day for you to get the next novel, HOOT. This will happen on the same day as the pick up for science books later this month.
Week of April 27- May 1:
Please continue to work on yur book report. In addition, we will be meeting live most days to share a reading of What was the Holocaust? I will be reading aloud as you fill in the given outline. Finally, we will be doing more work on sentences in our VOYAGES textbook.
Week of April 20-24:
I have assigned a book report. Title is due by April23; the report is due on May 14. Complete information is on Google Classroom. We will also be working on grammar this week; the topic is sentences.
I will have live meetings on Monday and Wednesday.
Week 4 (April 6-10)
All assignments posted on Google classroom
We will be finishing our reading of SOUNDER as we meet together on Zoom each morning at 11:30 this week. There will be questions to answer and a brief writing assignment on each chapter each day.

Read chapter 2. Copy the following questions and answer them in your folder/notebook in complete sentences:
1. It is quickly obvious to the reader that the sheriff and his deputies are very racist people. How would you define racism? You may want to consult someone in your home or a reference source before you answer.
2. What was the boy's father accused of? Do you think he was guilty? Why or why not?
3. Other than the ham that they found in the cabin, what other evidence did the sheriff provide for arresting the boy's father?
4. What evidence is there in chapter 2 which indicates that the sheriff and his deputies are cruel people?
5. What was the mother's judgment with regard to Sounder's gunshot wounds, and where did she think the dog was going?
6. Describe how you felt after reading this chapter and explain.
